Hey! I’m Jonathan
I am a father to four boys including identical triplets.
I have completed five marathons including the New York City marathon.
I once dreamed of playing professional basketball, but those dreams died when I didn't make the 9th grade basketball team.
I like to pretend to appreciate wine, but most of the time I don't know what I am talking about.
I have a strange dislike of my hands getting too dirty … maybe why I became a therapist.
I once attempted to eat a 72-ounce steak challenge in Amarillo, TX – and failed miserably!
I have seen every episode of Friends no fewer than five times and could probably quote most of the show if I was asked to.
My family is the reason behind everything that I do each day.
Coming clean: I really enjoy a good, harmless prank and have been known to prank my friends. My favorite was when I jokingly posted on my mother's Facebook account that she was going to be cast on the show Survivor and everyone believed it. She still gets asked about being on Survivor to this day.
I strangely enjoy doing laundry while wearing my AirPods and rocking out to alternative rock. It annoys the hell out of my partner when she hears me jamming out to Green Day but she can't get too upset because I'm folding her clothes while I'm doing it.
Bonus Easter eggs: Just to irritate my partner, there are 10 Green Day track titles from Dookie hidden in the text of this page. Find ‘em all or be a chump (JK, but I just gave you one…)
“Want to come for a few sessions, get some kick-ass strategies, and be done? Yep, I can meet you where you are at. Want to deep dive, get to the root, and really transform your life? I can do that, too. I don’t want you to be in therapy until you are 87 years old. My only goal is for you to feel better and help you get there.”
– Jonathan Wilson, PhD, LMFT-S
Hey! If you’re reading this, you’ve already taken a huge f*cking step. Reaching out for help isn’t easy, but it’s one of the bravest things you can do.
When I come around it’s like talking to a no-BS friend who genuinely cares and never judges. Because that’s how it should feel–not like pulling teeth but about safe-space catharsis and healing. My empathy and compassion are genuine, making it easy to spill your guts about anything.
You’ll feel truly heard and understood, no matter what choices you’ve made in the past. Disclaimer: I’m also always down for a laugh …
Welcome to your new normal.
Well, maybe not yet–there’s still some work to do.
Guess what, though? Life gets better from here. Maybe you feel like a basket case of burnout now, but here’s the long view: with therapy, it all gets better in the end.
All that good stuff you want can be your new reality when you commit to digging in and getting the help you need.
